Image Compression, Lossy, Lossless, Storage and Communication.


In today‟s modern world, there is a demand for data and information transmission that is both secure and quick. These images must be compressed for storage and transmission. Image compression is the process of compressing an image in order to increase image clarity while decreasing storage space. Data compression is the method of reducing data size without losing critical information. Existing image compression algorithms will not provide efficient image compression without reducing picture clarity. The literature review discusses different data compression techniques. Lossy and lossless compression are the two categories into which these techniques fall. This article discusses some lossless and lossy image compression methods.
