Abstract

The most dangerous virus spread by mosquitoes in the world is dengue fever (DF). Dengue (break-bone fever) is a viral infection that spreads from mosquitoes to people. It is more common in tropical and subtropical climates. Most of the people they don’t have symptoms. But the most common symptoms are high fever, headache, body aches, nausea and rash. Most of the people will feel better within one or two weeks. Some people develop severe dengue and need care in a hospital. In severe cases, dengue can be fatal. The risk of dengue will be getting lower by avoiding mosquito bites. As of now there is no proper treatment for dengue. There are three stages in Dengue fever. First 4 days with high fever, abdominal pain with headache and vomiting is the first stage termed as febrile or invasive stage. The second stage is in between 4th and 7th day and it is named as toxic or haemorrhage leads lowering of
temperature and unstable B.P. The 7th to 10th day is the third stage termed as convalescent or recovery stage with generalized weakness and stable B.P. Mostly, the severe dengue frequently necessitates hospital care and might be fatal within a few hours. To prevent further negative effects and develop an effective treatment plan, it is always preferable to detect the disease
earlier in life.
The data mining techniques play a vital role to predict the Dengue fever at the earlier stage to save human life. Data mining is used for the purpose of discovering knowledge from enormous amount of database. To predict Dengue fever, various classifiers such as Random Forest, J48 and REP tree can be used. As a result, the classifiers performance will be evaluated based on factors
like confusion matrix, Error rate and Time taken to build the model. In our research we found that the classifier J48 is giving more accuracy than REP tree and Random Forest classifier.
